The researchers from the Laboratory of Dendrochronology obtain valuable data derived from tree-ring archives, which improve the understanding the various phenomena affecting trees and forests. In forest areas, they are able to reconstruct:
Spatio-temporal occurrence of various geomorphic processes (snow avalanches, debris flows and floods, landslides) and related hazard zonation;
Periods of climate changes (temperature and precipitations) and hydrological fluctuations (ground water-table fluctuations in forested areas);
Duration and intensities of anthropogenic process activity: ground and pollution, tourism, logging;
